Corrections

The Archives expects to be corrected. A site built on evidence has to extend the same standard to itself.

Reporting an error

If a page states something the sources do not support, cites a document wrongly, or presents a contested claim as settled, please say so. The contact page carries a form that comes straight to the curator; corrections also arrive happily by Instagram or by reply to any of the curator's letters.

The most useful report names the page, quotes the sentence, and points to the evidence. But an unsupported "this looks wrong" is still welcome. It costs the Archives nothing to check.

What happens next

Reported errors are checked against the evidence register. If the page is wrong, it is corrected, the register is updated, and material corrections are noted so a returning reader can see what changed and why. If the evidence is genuinely disputed, the page is reworded to carry the dispute honestly rather than picking a side quietly.

Corrections are treated as part of the scholarship, and handled with more care, never less, when the error is embarrassing.
